A smart ESG policy and a responsible everyday behavior helps to address issues such as climate change, resource scarcity and social inequality.

AS Baltic RE Group strives to conduct its activities in the best sustainable way and therefore, the Group developed an ambitious sustainability strategy which aims to reduce the negative and increase the positive environmental, social, economic and governance impacts and create real long term value for its stakeholders.

Green energy

The Group recently took the strategic decision to abandon the use of dirty energy in its buildings. Such a decisive turning point is a part of its strong commitment to pursue the highest standards of sustainability, through a shared effort with its tenants and suppliers towards a better-quality environment and life in general. From October 2021 the whole portfolio of Baltic RE Group is fully powered by green electricity, whose production process uses entirely renewable energy resources. The green energy used is provided by Latvenergo and fully certified by attestations proving the origin of electricity. The Group communicates this daily through small luminous signboards on its buildings, hoping to create some emulation effect.

Environmental actions

At the same time, from the beginning of 2022 the Group has banned all polluting products from the cleaning service in its buildings, so all the products they use have European eco - certified EU Ecolabel. The EU Ecolabel criteria provide exigent guidelines for companies looking to lower their environmental impact and guarantee the efficiency of their environmental actions through third party controls. Selected producers shall beare compliant with the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), the management instrument developed by the European Commission for companies and other organizations to evaluate, report, and improve their environmental performance.

Together with the impact on the environment, the Group also focuses on creation of new workplaces, taking into account the well-being of the employees, on relationships and interactions between people. This will be excellently depicted in still undergoing renovation of the building at 9a Citadeles street. The property is called "Il Giardino", as it will be surrounded by a beautiful large garden in the heart of the city, where over 100 fruit and flowering trees have been planted to create a truly unique environment.

Measures implemented in our portfolio

The Group also recognizes the importance of following the International Green Building Standards, therefore the Group in cooperation with its strategic sustainability advisor UAB “Vesta Consulting” has started to certify all its new projects, starting with the project The Icon at 25 Raina Boulevard which is undergoing the certification process of BREEAM In-Use: Excellent.

All new Group’s projects will meet the best energy efficiency requirements, shall be equipped with the latest generation centralized drinking water system to grant the highest level of water purification, powerful air recovery equipment, UVC lamps, and air ionizers, limiting the risks of spreading viruses and allergens. Whenever possible, solar panels shall be installed, as well as electric chargers for cars and a bicycle parking to factually support sustainable mobility.
